Nach der anfänglich informellen malerei, hat sich in meinem kunstschaffen der kreis als zentrales symbol etabliert. Früher hauptsächlich in den metall- und magnetarbeiten vorkommend, ist er jetzt auch in der malerei als prägendes element zugegen. Der kreis birgt in sich seit jeher grösste symbolkraft. Er ist die perfekte geometrische form und gibt, weil ohne anfang und ohne ende, eine vorstellung von unendlichkeit. In den neueren arbeiten verwende ich epoxidharz, das den bildern eine äusserst interessante, abwechslungsreiche oberfläche verleiht. Die beschaffenheit der oberfläche ist transparent, eingefärbt, glänzend, nass wirkend oder dicht und wird als habtisches element wahrgenommen. Sowohl in der symbolik als auch in ihrer materiellen erscheinungsform wird ein sich annähern der beiden werkgruppen – malerei und metallobjekte – deutlich sichtbar.

After an intitial phase of Art Informel style abstract expressionist painting, the geometric shape of the circle has come to be the central symbol of my every artistic creation. In the past, I used the circle mostly when working with metal and magnets, but now it is the key element in my paintings as well. The circle has always been regarded as having great symbolic power. It is the most perfect of all geometric shapes and, because it has no beginning and no end, it gives us an idea of infinity. In my recent works I used epoxy resin, which gives surfaces a more lively and interesting texture: allowing a painting’s surface to look more varied by combining transparent, heavily pigmented, glossy, wet-looking and opaque elements, it creates a threedimensional effect. Taking a look at my work, it has become increasingly obvious that the two art forms I use – painting and metal objects – are no longer separate from each other in my mind, nor in execution: they keep overlapping, on the symbolic
level as well as in their material manifestation.
