Studium an den Konservatorien Luxemburg und Metz (Frankreich); später an den Musikhochschulen Mannheim und Düsseldorf.
Von 1981 bis 1993 Vorstandsmitglied der „LGNM“ (Luxemburger Gesellschaft für neue Musik). Von 1986 bis 1990 Leiter des Ensembles für neue Musik „Sigma“. Kerger schrieb Werke für die verschiedensten Besetzungen, darunter 13 Orchesterwerke, vier Kammeropern, einige Musiktheaterstücke sowie Kinderopern. Als musikalischer Direktor des „Théâtre National du Luxembourg“ war er bis Juni 2006 für die Abteilung Musiktheater zuständig. Außerdem ist er Leiter vom „Institut Européen de Chant Choral, Luxembourg“.

Kerger wrote pieces for different instrumentation, among 13 for orchestra, four for chamber-opera, some for music-theatre and operas for children. As musical director of the „Théâtre National du Luxembourg“ he was until June 2006 responsible for the department music-theatre. Further, he is the director of the „Institut Européen de Chant Choral, Luxembourg“.
